Marie Curie

Marya Sklodowska (French naturalized Marie) was a polish scientist who won a Nobel Prize in Physic and Chemistry. She was the 1st woman to work in the field of Radioactivity (whit her husband Pierre Curie). In the 1ss WW she practise the use of X-Rays and also discovered two elements: Polonium and Radium. Her work is remarked because of the discrimination in scientific camp. She was born in 1867 in Poland by a poor but well-educated family. Youngest of 5 children, Marya showed a particular interest for science. With her determination she passed her studies and start working in scientific camp during the 1WW (also when she met Pierre Curie). Before her death in 1934 because of the Radium (that is a radioactive element), she was the 1st woman to teach at the Univesity of Paris. This woman is an exemple of determination and courage also because she were discriminated and hampered in scientific field.
